The author of this article analyzes Erna Rosenstein’s poetry, which has not yet been read through the prism of post-humanist methodologies. It should be included in the mainstream narrative of the ways animals are represented. Rosenstein was one of the first to write about the death of an animal through euthanasia. According to the poet, the experience of losing an animal is no different from losing a loved one. When writing about animals, Rosenstein did not violate their autonomy; she remains close to the specific beings, which suggests that her strategies for writing about animals are not so much about observing the emerging relationship between humans and animals, but about noting the dangers lurking for those whose lives depend entirely on humans.
