Etnografia intymna – łączenie opowieści, pamięci i historii
Autorki stworzyły termin „etnografia intymna”, aby uchwycić podejście badawcze i pisarskie, które przyjęły podczas opracowywania swoich projektów historii życia, Rylko-Bauer z matką, a Waterston z ojcem. W formie konwersacji obie antropolożki definiują to podejście, zastanawiają się nad aspektami swojej współpracy i doświadczeniami związanymi z tą metodą, a także rozważają jej wartość, wyjątkowość, użyteczność i umiejscowienie w aktualnych dyskusjach w antropologii.

Abstract:
Intimate Ethnography: Bridging Story, Memory, History
Barbara Rylko-Bauer and Alisse Waterston coined the term “intimate ethnography” to capture the research and writing approach they took in developing their respective life-history projects, Rylko-Bauer with her mother and Waterston with her father. In conversational format, the two anthropologists define the approach, reflect on aspects of their collaboration and experiences with the method, and consider its value, uniqueness, usefulness, and situatedness amid timely discussions in anthropology. They also discuss ways intimate ethnography narrows the divide between the personal and the scholarly that helps attract readers to the serious historical, political-economic, and cultural issues these works address.
