Abstrakt:
Elbląg i cykliczne Forum Kulturoznawcze
Artykuł przedstawia założenia i historię ogólnopolskich Forów Kulturoznawczych. Pierwsza edycja odbyła się 2008 roku w Elblągu z inicjatywy Biblioteki Elbląskiej i redakcji tygodnika „Polityka”. Do specyficznych cech kolejnych konferencji z tego cyklu należą: dobór gości przez organizatorów, a nie na bazie open call, połączenie refleksji akademickiej z programem dla społeczności lokalnej oraz skupienie się na aktualnej i istotnej społecznie problematyce. Autor przekonuje, że doświadczenia Forów Kulturoznawczych pokazują, jak ważny jest imperatyw otwartości nauki na bieżącą rzeczywistość.

Abstract:
Elbląg and the Cyclical Cultural Studies Forum
This article presents the assumptions and history of the nationwide Cultural Forums. The first edition was held in Elblag in 2008 at the initiative of the Elblag Library and the “Polityka” weekly. The particular features of subsequent conferences in this series include: the selection of guests by the organizers and not on the basis of an open call, a combination of academic reflections with a program for the local community, and a focus on current and socially relevant issues. The author argues that the experience of the Cultural Forums shows how crucial the imperative of openness of science to current reality is.
