Abstrakt:
Nie (tylko) ludzkie – w stronę nowego paradygmatu?
Prace współczesnych bioartystów – wpisujące się w narracje transhumanistyczne i posthumanistyczne – prowokują do postawienia pytań podstawowych: jak nazwać eksperymenty artystów, polegające na ingerencji w fenotyp żywych organizmów? Czemu służą projekty zmierzające do konstruowania biologiczno-technologicznych interfejsów łączących ludzi z roślinami czy zwierzętami? Jak określić status projektów, które ingerują w żywe organizmy i struktury komórkowo-tkankowe, poszerzają ich funkcje i tworzą ich zamienniki? Pytania te prowadzą do wniosku, że eksperymenty powstające we współpracy artystów z naukowcami są częścią zwrotu poznawczego, którego celem jest performowanie wiedzy z pogranicza dyscyplin, charakteryzującej się niepewnym statusem i kreujących nowe strategie myślenia.

Abstract:
Not (Only) Human – Towards a New Paradigm?
The works of contemporary bio-artists – as part of transhumanist and posthumanist narratives – provoke fundamental questions: what to call artists’ experiments involving interference in the phenotype of living organisms? What is the purpose of projects seeking to construct biological-technological interfaces connecting humans with plants or animals? How do we determine the status of projects that interfere with living organisms and cellular-tissue structures, extending their functions and creating substitutes? These questions lead to the conclusion that the experiments produced in collaboration between artists and scientists are part of a cognitive turn that aims to perform knowledge at the boundaries of disciplines, characterized by uncertain status and creating new strategies of thinking.
